Can I connect
to America Online using BICnet?
Have an AOL account but can't connect? You can login to AOL via the Internet
with a BICnet dial-up account. It's simple! Follow these steps:
Establish your normal connection to BICnet.
What is
a domain name?
A Domain Name allows you to customize your e-mail and web page. It allows
you to receive e-mail at user@yourdomain.com rather than user@bicnet.net,
or to have a web page at www.yourdomain.com rather than www.bicnet.net/~username.
(Additional charges apply - see virtual web hosting for details)
How do
I get a domain?
Registering a domain is easy.
The hardest part is deciding what you want your domain name to be. It should reflect either your company or product in some way that your customers can identify. We suggest coming up with several different choices and then either checking if they are available by clicking on our web page, or by calling your Sales Rep.
Once you have made the final decision for your domain your Sales Rep will take the information from you and give it to our Networking Department who will send in the registration for the domain and set it up on our system. Once we have confirmation that you domain has been registered you and your Sales Rep will receive an e-mail confirming the information and you will be able to start using your domain immediately.
What kind
of servers does BICnet use?
BICnet uses a variety of servers, each one geared toward a specific task.
BICnet uses a variety of platforms, from proprietary to Windows NT. All of
our servers have some form of redundancy, so that if one server goes down,
another can fill in while repairs are being made.
