Save
Password Checkbox is Greyed (Unavailable)
- Click the Start button.
- From the Start menu,
point to Settings and choose Control Panel.
- Double-click the Network
icon.
- In the window under
The following network components are installed, there should be only three
network components:
Client for Microsoft Networks
Dialup Adapter
TCP/IP
- Pay special attention
to Client for Microsoft Networks, since this allows the password to be saved.
- Add and remove network
components as needed.
- Click the OK button.
- When you see Do you
want to restart your computer now, click Yes. Wait for the computer to reboot.
Once Windows 95 restarts, you may be prompted for a password. Do not enter
a password.
- Click the OK button.
- If you are prompted
to confirm the new password, click OK.
- Double-click the My
Computer icon on your desktop.
- Double-click the Dial-Up
Networking icon.
- Double-click the BICnet
icon. If the Save password option is no longer unavailable, click it now
and you are finished.
- If the Save password
is still not available, click on the Cancel button.
- Minimize the Dial-Up
Networking window.
- Double-click the Passwords
icon in the Control Panel window.
- Click the User Profiles
tab.
- Click Users can customize
their preferences and desktop settings.
- Click the OK button.
- Click Yes to let the
computer restart.
- Wait for the computer
to reboot. Once Windows 95 restarts, you may be prompted for a password.
Do not enter a password.
- Click the OK button.
- If you are prompted
to confirm the new password, click OK.
- On the task bar, click
on Dial-Up Networking to restore it.
- Double-click the BICnet
icon.
- If the Save password
option is no longer unavailable, click it now and you are finished.
