Configure
Eudora Light For Multiple Users
- In your Eudora directory,
there's a file called EUDORA.INI.
NOTE: if your
Windows display options are such that you don't see a file called EUDORA.INI,
only a file called EUDORA with no extension but with a notepad icon: go
to the View:Options:View menu in the title bar, and un-check the "Hide MS-DOS
file extensions for file types that are registered" option.
- The EUDORA.INI file
contains the account settings, including the POP account and so forth. Make
a new directory on the hard disk (do not include any spaces or special characters
in the directory name).
- Then copy the EUDORA.INI
file and put it into the new directory. For the sake of explanation, we'll
say the new directory is called HYDE and its path is C:\HYDE.
- Now create a shortcut
of the EUDORA.EXE file and put it on the desktop (or wherever you want it).
Call it, say, HydeMail.
- Do a right-click on
HydeMail, open the Properties section, and go to the Shortcut page.
- In the Target field,
type the path of the EUDORA.EXE file (it will probably already be there),
then a space, and then the path of the new EUDORA.INI file in the HYDE directory.
It might look something like this: C:\EUDORA\EUDORA.EXE C:\HYDE\EUDORA.INI
Also, in the Start In field, type the path of the new Hyde directory:
C:\HYDE
- Double-click on the
HydeMail shortcut. Eudora
will come up, with the original settings (in the Tools:Options or Special:Settings
menu, depending on which version of Eudora you have). Change the settings
to the correct information for the Hyde email account. Quit Eudora.
- Repeat the entire
above process for each extra account. Now, whenever Mr. Hyde wants to access
his mail, he opens Eudora by double-clicking on the HydeMail shortcut. Users
must quit and restart Eudora to switch accounts.
